How To Make an Ornament Wreath
I made this wreath years ago after buying all the supplies at Michaels, and sadly I don’t have a step-by-step tutorial for you.
So sorry!
It was long before this blog was even a thought of mine.
For the most part though, it was made the same way I describe in my tutorial for how to make an ornament wreath.
So if you want to know all the details from start to finish, check that out!
Ornament Wreath Examples
I’ve also made several other ornament wreaths including my:
- Fall Ornament Wreath
- University of Kentucky Basketball Ornament Wreath (Go Big Blue!)
- Christmas Ornament Wreath
- NFL ‘House Divided’ Ornament Wreath (Who Dey!)
- Yarn Easter Egg Wreath (ok, not ornaments, but I followed the same process)

How to Make a Halloween Ornament Wreath
For this wreath, however, instead of using a grapevine wreath form, I used a styrofoam one…and it reaffirmed my love for grapevine!
Never again will I use anything other than grapevine…never again.
Check this out for why I strongly prefer grapevine wreath forms for making ornament wreaths.
I actually cut the styrofoam in half (after seeing a Pinterest idea, of course) to try and get two wreaths out of it. It worked but it was a PAIN and oh so messy.
It took forever to slice in half and I got styrofoam all over me.
Moving on…
Here’s a quick rundown of how I made this Halloween ornament wreath:
- I first removed all the ornament tops
- Next, I glued on the orange and black ornaments to the wreath form using the cluster method (which I talk about in detail in my how-to tutorial)
- Then I went back and filled in some of the larger gaps between the ornaments with the glittery purple and green foam balls (these actually aren’t ornaments; they’re vase filler, but they still worked perfectly for this project)
- Some black floral leaves were then glued on to fill the rest of the gaps and add some cool texture and dimension
- Next, I attached the center spider decoration to the back
- The final step was adding a loop made out of floral wire and attaching it to the back for hanging
And that’s it!
My Final DIY Halloween Ornament Wreath
I just looooove how my Halloween ornament wreath turned out!
It’s super Halloweeny without being too scary or cheesy.
It looks so great and I look forward to hanging it on our front door every October!

I'm obsessed with this wreath!! I have to know... where did you find that spider web hanging decoration? The ones I'm seeing online (albeit February) aren't nearly as vibrant! And I think the spider in the center really makes this wreath what it is! Would love to know more about where to find one.
