New Year….New House!

Hey there, friends, and Happy New Year!  Here’s my first post of 2016 (woot!).  It’s a BIG behind-the-scenes update, too.  I’ll be back shortly with more fun and crafty creations, but I’m so excited to share this exciting news with you guys! [Read more…]

The Top Ten Posts of 2015 Here at WTSHB!

Well, 2015 is (almost) officially in the books now!  Cray, cray, I know.  They say time goes by more quickly as you get older, and I definitely believe it….it’s almost going by at warp speed now, so I must be getting really old! :)

It’s always fun to look back and reminisce over the year that was, and since this was my first full year blogging, I thought I’d take a trip down memory lane and find out what the top posts for this year have been.  I did a mid-year check, and while those reader faves appear below too (naturally), I was a little surprised by the results. Shake Your Booty Mug & FREE Cut File!

I’m one of those strange folks who just can’t get into the coffee craze.  I know, I know.  Such a weirdo.  I don’t mind the smell of the stuff but I can’t stand the taste, even those cold blended varieties that try and trick me with their drizzles of ooey gooey caramel or rich chocolate upon fluffy whipped cream swirls.  Blech!  Not fooled.

However, I have recently discovered the wonderful world of hot tea!  It only took 30 years, but I’ve moved beyond my strict ice-cold-syrupy-sweet-tea-only rule (hey, I’m a good Southern girl).  Now I [Read more…]

DIY Faux Aged Copper Snowflake Ornaments from a Cereal Box!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: cereal boxes are one of my all-time favorite things to craft with!  They are an excellent substitute for chipboard, and I pretty much always have a solid supply in my kitchen pantry (who doesn’t?).  So yeah, free craft supplies for the win!

Last week I shared a tutorial for using a cereal box to make some faux rusted state ornaments.  I had so much fun creating those, not mention plenty of leftover box panels, and I decided to [Read more…]

Merry Monday Link Party #84: A Farewell

Well folks, the time is here.  Sadly, this is my very last time as a host of Merry Monday.  *sniffle*  I’ve had a great time bringing these linkups to you every week and seeing all of your awesome creations, but it’s just time to move on.  {*Cue Tom Petty*}

We’re closing on a new house just a few days after Christmas, plus I’ve got some big changes in the works for this blog.  So the big move coupled with lots of behind-the-scenes blog changes (not to mention the regular everyday craziness of raising a toddler and being a good wife and friend, and *trying* to keep up [Read more…]

Hilariously Perfect Christmas Card for a Toddler!

They say that time moves faster as you get older, and boy, I’m truly starting to believe it!  The holidays totally snuck up on me this year, way more than usual too.  I feel like I was just rushing to finish my son’s Halloween costume….how is Christmas only a few weeks away?!? [Read more…]

DIY Faux Rusted Metal State Ornaments from a Cereal Box!

If you couldn’t already tell, I LOVE creating personalized goodies of all kinds.  They’re what really makes a house a home, right?

And speaking of home….we’ve got three of them!  You see I’m from Kentucky, my husband grew up in Maine, and we’ve lived in Alabama now for five years (and it’s the only home my son has ever known).

Because of this, I thought it would be nice to create a set of ornaments that represent all three of our homes.  It would also give me a chance to test out a fun [Read more…]

Zoo-Themed Birthday Chalkboard Poster

My little niece just turned TWO!  I can’t believe how fast she and my son are growing….time slow down!  I love dabbling in Photoshop and creating digital designs, especially chalkboard posters (that’s why I started my All Things Chalkboard series).  So just like with her and my son’s first birthdays, I created this zoo-themed birthday chalkboard poster to help celebrate the occasion.

These posters also act as the sweetest keepsakes to help remember all the little things from these years….and keepsakes also hold a special place in my crafty heart (I’ve got lots of them in my Project Gallery). [Read more…]

Colorful & Glittery Christmas Sign: Making Spirits Bright!

Well today is bittersweet, friends.  It’s the last day of our Holiday Craft Party (boo!), but today’s theme is Home Decor and I am SO excited to share with you this colorful and glittery Christmas sign (yay!)!

I’m definitely a non-traditional holiday decor kinda gal (have you seen my Shabby Chic fall door hanger??), so I wanted to pull in some bright colors for a cheery Christmas sign.  What better way to add some colorful sparkles than with glitter, amiright?  I therefore decided to jazz up [Read more…]

Whimsical Painted Christmas Stocking Door Hanger

You all probably know by now that I have a not-so-slight addiction to making wreaths and door hangers….yep, I have more than a few.  However, I’ve yet to fully dive in and paint one by hand from start to finish, and by that I mean no spray paint, no stencils, no vinyl decals.  Basically NO HELP of any kind.  Just me and my (not very) artistic ability.

Well that all changed a couple weeks ago when I spent a Saturday evening at a local repurposing/vintage/artsy store that was holding a “paint your own stocking door hanger” night.  Being a stay-at-home-mom with no friends [Read more…]

‘Drink and Be Merry’ Christmas Mason Jar

Today is Day 3 of our weeklong Holiday Craft Party, and I along with four of my crafting buddies are sharing creations using mason jars!

Everybody knows the old holiday saying “Eat, drink, and be merry.”  Well, since the particular jar I’d be using is for drinking, I decided to drop the whole eating part.  After all, it’s what’s in the eggnog that can really lead to some jolly good fun, if ya know what I’m saying.

I cut out this simple holiday saying in some vinyl and jazzed [Read more…]

Free Printable Colorful Snowflake Gift Tags!

It’s now Day 2 of our Holiday Craft Party!!  Yesterday’s fun was with ornaments, but today is all about gift tags!

You all probably know by now that I love me some color (which makes it very interesting being married to a man who is only happy when surrounded by boring beige and wearing black or navy….).  Yep, bright colors make me happy.  Always have, always will.  I also love snow, but sadly only see it in the flesh maybe one day a year for a couple hours before it all melts. #winterinthesouth

I therefore decided to combine these two loves [Read more…]

How to Make a Yarn Ball Ornament: Two Methods!

My mother-in-law is huge into knitting and crocheting.  She’s quite fabulous at both too (although she would never accept such a compliment).  Over the years, she’s made some beautiful handmade items for us, like blankets, hats, socks, and this adorable sweater for my son.

I thought this Christmas, it would be fun to make her a little handmade ornament that pays tribute to one of her favorite hobbies.  I spotted this gem on Pinterest which served as my inspiration, plus I decided [Read more…]

Don’t Stop Believing Santa Christmas Sign

Santa Claus is coming to town, y’all!  To prep for Kris Kringle’s visit, I decided to create a playful little holiday sign that combined the man himself with an ode to the classic Journey song.  It’s a match made in heaven!

I’ve seen variations of this design all over the interwebs and always loved the chuckle-worthy pun, so now that it’s Christmastime again, I decided to make my own! [Read more…]

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas Here at WTSHB!

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of At Home for IZEA.  All opinions are 100% mine.

Ok, I know we all just finished trick-or-treating, our costumes have barely hit the floor, and our faces are still damp from washing off the makeup.  However, now that Halloween is behind us….it’s officially Christmastime!  Wahoo!  That’s how I feel at least.

The holiday season is my absolute favorite time of year, and I start celebrating as soon as possible! [Read more…]
