Hey there, friends, and Happy New Year! Here’s my first post of 2016 (woot!). It’s a BIG behind-the-scenes update, too. I’ll be back shortly with more fun and crafty creations, but I’m so excited to share this exciting news with you guys!
We just bought a new house!!
Yep. What better way to ring in the new year, huh? Sure, something like a birth, engagement, wedding, or surprise homecoming would knock the socks off this kind of news, but we’re pumped!
We put an offer in on a short sale property back in August (yes….August!), and we *finally* closed on it at the end of 2015. As in the very end. As in 4pm on New Year’s Eve very end. There ain’t nothing short about a short sale, let me tell ya.
I’ll be sharing our short sale experience here eventually (it was a doozy!), but right now we’re in full-on packing-moving-unpacking mode.
If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you’re already privy to this news. I haven’t exactly been subtle about it or my excitement….
I mean, can you blame me? When we moved down here to Alabama from Kentucky, we signed a six-month lease on our current place. Well, five years and one toddler later, we’re still here. And we’re outta room. And outta patience (especially me, Miss EverythingHasItsPlaceAndCan’tStandClutter).
We started our home search at the end of last spring. After visiting dozens of properties in person and scoping out countless others online, we were beginning to lose faith in the process. Then we found it….the PERFECT house! As in one that checked off every. single. box. of our wish list, then some.
It almost seemed too good to be true, and it nearly was….it was a dreaded short sale property. Ugggggghhhh. Not fun. Very long and oh so not fun. More on all the deets later though.
Craft Room?! Say Whaaaat?!
One of the aspects that I’m most excited for with this new home is my very own craft room!! Squeeeeee!! Let me state that again: I HAVE A CRAFT ROOM NOW. No more craft supplies scattered around or stuck in multiple tubs and hijacking the dining room table. Nope. That’s all a thing of the past now.
I’ve literally been dreaming of this my entire life (and planning my perfect crafting oasis on Pinterest, naturally), and it’s finally happening. I’m almost at the pee-my-pants level of giddiness.
This might look like just an empty room (with a crazy lady lying on the floor), however, it will eventually become the #craftroom of my dreams! That’s me soaking in the fact this is actually a reality now, and no longer just a Pinterest board. #soexcited #lotstodo #letsdothis

This isn’t our first home since we purchased a house in Kentucky right before we got married in 2008, and we still own it as an investment property. However, this is our first home as a family of three and where we plan to live for the foreseeable future. Just as important (to me at least), it’s our first home since the Age of Pinterest, which means I am all about DIYing that sucker to death! :)
I’ve been daydreaming and pinning like crazy ideas on how to decorate, organize, renovate, remodel, and/or improve every square inch of that place, inside and out. It’s very exciting because the possibilities are endless…..but it’s also incredibly overwhelming because the possibilities are endless. Too many options!
So our New Year’s Day and every day since has been spent deep cleaning the new house and the typical packing and hauling of boxes. Fun, fun! Slowly but surely, we’re making progress.
So What Does This Mean For You, Lovely Reader?
What does this all mean for you? Well, nothing really (ha, sorry!). Just please keep these in mind for me:
- Responses to comments, messages, and/or emails may be delayed. My apologies! I’ve already fallen behind in my response time thanks to the holiday hustle and bustle, and this move is kicking my butt too. So very sorry!
- Posts may be more scattered than normal. Not that I post on a regular schedule to begin with, but things might get extra wonky around here for the next month or two while we get settled into our new accommodations. Thanks for sticking with me!
- Prepare for LOTS (and I mean LOTS) more posts on decor creations, organization ideas, home improvement projects, tips, etc. Now that we have a place that is 100% OURS again, I plan on going crazy to really make our house OUR home.
So that’s my big announcement in a rather large proverbial nutshell. I’m so excited to start this chapter of our lives. And now I can finally hang up the most perfect sign. :)
Thanks so much for stopping by! Here’s to a fabulous 2016!
